The Move Upstairs

Our upstairs consists of the playroom, the office, and a bathroom. After a full weekend of moving and redecorating, the playroom and office have been combined. The old office is now Davis' new room!

I held off moving Davis upstairs as long as I possibly could. Stairs make me really nervous and trapping kids with locks and gates make me really nervous too. While I didn't want him to be coming down the stairs in a sleepy state in the middle of the night, I also didn't want to trap him up there in case there was an emergency. So we leave the stairway light on and we still listen for him on the monitor.

Maybe you recall my post about non-consistent sleep habits a while back? Well (knock on wood) our problems have been solved! Upstairs, Davis sleeps through the night about 90% of the time. Occasionally he comes downstairs because of a bad dream, but for the most part he sleeps from 7:30/8pm till 6:30/7am. He absolutely LOVES his new room, mainly because of the beanbag chair!

Please ignore the massive armoire in front of the window.
It was too heavy to move that weekend by ourselves.

House Updates

As you recall, we moved into a house that took us back to the wonderful seventies. Forrest and I weren't around in that decade, but we imagine this house would have been a great setting for That 70s Show! After a little bit of wallpaper removal, some new tiles, and a whole lotta paint...drumroll...here are some of the pictures after all the work:

Taking you back to 1977

Three times a charm!

Take 1: Forrest was the first one to see our new house before buying it. He didn't think it was right for us, so we casually moved on and kept looking.

Take 2: One night we decided to take a walk and peek in the windows. I really liked the open floor plan, but it looked like a major project that we both weren't in the mood to take on.

Take 3: Leave it to my parents, who came in town the next day and said it was a house we couldn't pass up! With a little talk about paint, carpet, tiles, fixtures, and appliances we started dreaming.

Here are some before pictures for you to enjoy!

Hello Again...

Wow, is there a bad blogger award out there? I promise to try and make a come-back, but things have just been insane with our move.

We spent 6 weeks living with my in-laws and now we are living amongst boxes in our new home. Who has time for unpacking? We've been in our new house two weeks and haven't gotten very far. Our first weekend was spent in Austin at Forrest's best friend's wedding. Hopefully this weekend, we will hang a picture!

I can't wait to share some before and after pictures. This house, I don't believe, has been updated since it was built in 1977. Gotta love the palm tree wallpaper and brown appliances (that still work!!!). We knew we were getting into a big project with a new kitchen, new paint, and new bathroom tiles. What I wasn't expecting were all the little things that needed replacing, like door stops! Once the remodeling is done, I'll post pics. We still have kitchen counter tops and bathroom tiles coming and appliances that need installing (we are living on delivery and Lean Cuisines).

Onto a more exciting topic...Davis! In a tux! Walking down the aisle! We are so happy Brandon and Jordan asked Davis to be part of their wedding. He loves them both so much! They are currently enjoying a fabulous honeymoon and we keep watching re-runs of Davis at the wedding. When Davis was in my cousin's wedding, about a year ago, I was so sad we didn't get a video of Davis walking down the aisle. So for this wedding, I asked my parents to discretely film him with their iPhone. Enjoy!

It's been a while...

I'm back! Did you think I was stranded on a fabulous tropical island? Sadly, I do not have vacation pictures to post and do not have a good reason for taking a blog break. We've just been super busy like the rest of the world. Now it's time to catch you up!

First of all, WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!! After about 50 showings over 100 days and scrambling to keep a clean house, someone made an offer, we accepted, and it's done. Obviously it wasn't that easy, but I can dream. I don't want to recap the horribleness that engulfed us for weeks trying to make the buyer happy. Let's just say, Good-bye Inslee!

After a weekend of hauling boxes and heavy furniture to a storage unit, the house was empty and we decided to have a pizza party with our friends! We toasted to our favorite memories in the house...bringing Davis home from the hospital, late night fires on the back porch, girl's nights watching Bachelor, trick-or-treating, and many more.

Now, I know you're all wondering where we are living and what's next! We bought a house just a couple blocks down from the old house and are remodeling it! In the meantime, we are living with Forrest's parents. I'll post soon with pics of the new house!

Out of Towners

I don't want crazy people to come break into our house, so I won't say exactly when we are out of town, but lately we have been gone most weekends. Most weekends except this past weekend. Forrest and I are addicted to leaving town and making plans. Plus, our house is on the market so it's easier to leave the house nice and clean and let strangers walk through it, go through our cabinets, and leave dirt trails.

Have I mentioned our house is on the market? It's insane. The week after we put the sign in the yard, 4 other neighbors on our street (our street is only two blocks) decided to also put their houses up for sale. For those of you not doing the math, that is 5 houses for sale on our street. 4 of them, very similar in size and price. If you're in the market for a 2-1 in a charming neighborhood with a beautiful shaded backyard, leave me a message! So for the past couple of months I've been windexing little hand prints off my windows, moping the floors, vacuuming the carpets, and putting away toys DAILY. On average, we have about 5 showings a week. And this is how it goes down:

-My phone is always by my side because it's just a courtesy call, they aren't asking to show the house, just telling me when they will be there.
-Sometimes I have to be out of there in 20 minutes, so I've become very good at throwing junk in the trunk of my car.
-Duke and I spend a lot of time at Starbucks because it's the only place I can sit outside with a dog and get wifi so I can keep working. It's getting a little hot to do this.

And in particular, this past weekend...we had 2 showings on Friday, 2 on Saturday, an open house Sunday, and as of right now...I'm sitting at Starbucks while we have 3 showings today!

Bottom line, we should have left town and I'm SO ready to sell this house.
