Hunting Eggs

This past weekend we went to an Easter egg hunt out in Blanco at a friend's ranch. Gorgeous weather, delicious food, a beautiful home, 300 eggs, candy galore, bouncy castles, trailer rides...need I say more?!?

Before letting the kids run wild for the eggs, we tried to fill them up. I don't know what Davis loves more, the taste of Pirate's Booty or just saying "Pirate's Booty!"

A couple of my high school friends were at the party too, Christina (with me in the picture below) has a little 2 year old boy, Wills.

The eggs were "hidden" in a fenced-in yard, so the kids all lined up outside the gate before the official hunt. Davis could NOT contain his excitement.

And...they're off!
My parents came out for the Easter fun. Davis loved showing Papa Tom his eggs, he especially loved the cupcake egg!

An impressive picture of all the egg hunters

Yoga Dance Moves

Davis loves to partaaay! Who doesn't?!?! After his entertaining walk down the aisle at Brandon and Jordan's wedding, we headed to the UT Alumni Center (where my mom has a brick) for the best party! The food was delicious (massive amounts of macaroni and cheese), the band was awesome, they had an ice shot block, Brandon's cake was a FISH, and they left in an Austin pedicab surrounded by sparklers while a mariachi band played!

While we all enjoyed the food, Davis ruled the dance floor! He had some new moves we'd never seen before...Sorry it's sideways!

Hello Again...

Wow, is there a bad blogger award out there? I promise to try and make a come-back, but things have just been insane with our move.

We spent 6 weeks living with my in-laws and now we are living amongst boxes in our new home. Who has time for unpacking? We've been in our new house two weeks and haven't gotten very far. Our first weekend was spent in Austin at Forrest's best friend's wedding. Hopefully this weekend, we will hang a picture!

I can't wait to share some before and after pictures. This house, I don't believe, has been updated since it was built in 1977. Gotta love the palm tree wallpaper and brown appliances (that still work!!!). We knew we were getting into a big project with a new kitchen, new paint, and new bathroom tiles. What I wasn't expecting were all the little things that needed replacing, like door stops! Once the remodeling is done, I'll post pics. We still have kitchen counter tops and bathroom tiles coming and appliances that need installing (we are living on delivery and Lean Cuisines).

Onto a more exciting topic...Davis! In a tux! Walking down the aisle! We are so happy Brandon and Jordan asked Davis to be part of their wedding. He loves them both so much! They are currently enjoying a fabulous honeymoon and we keep watching re-runs of Davis at the wedding. When Davis was in my cousin's wedding, about a year ago, I was so sad we didn't get a video of Davis walking down the aisle. So for this wedding, I asked my parents to discretely film him with their iPhone. Enjoy!

Davis Turns 3!!!!!

We love July birthdays around here (yes, I realize it's well into August by now)!! Davis turned 3 and he could not have been more excited about his big day! The second he realized it was July (i.e. when the Disney channel announced, "it's July") he came bouncing into my room screaming with sheer delight, "Mom, mom, it's July, it's my birthday!" I was so proud he realized it was July and knew it was his birthday. I then realized I needed to also teach him that July has 31 days and he still had 27 days of July till his actual birthday. Sweet boy, July went by way too slow.

On his actual birthday I took the day off from work and we did whatever he wanted to do, which happened to be things I love to do too! We went on a walk, to Starbucks, to the park, lunch with his friends (and mine), to Target, and ended the day with dinner at Nana and Pop's.

He made us sing 3 times!

Ladder Golf!
His birthday party was the next day at our neighborhood pool. For the entire two hours, he climbed up the stairs and flew down the slide! Over and over and over again. According to him, he's a big boy now and doesn't need a life jacket. He is a pretty good swimmer. We had swim lessons the week before his birthday and since then, he's been diving inn and swimming to the side by himself!

Shooting out of the slide!

Serving everyone some fruit!

The Baker's came!

The Adcocks, sweet Emery is a huge fan of the water!

Uncle Mark!

Thomas cake made by my mom and sister!

Davis with all the boys!
Time for the adults to try the slide!

Happy 90th Grandma

In July, my Grandmother (Dad's mom) turned 90! It was a beautiful party complete with an accordion serenade. Grandma had four boys and luckily they married amazing women who know how to throw a party!

We started the night with a lovely spread of antipasto and a little video tribute to Grandma. Dinner and lots of wine followed with all our Italian favorites, Grandma's meatballs, stuffed shells, lasagna, and more. To make sure our bellies were full, we also devoured an Italian creme cake!

What more do you need than food to satisfy a couple Italians? Bocce, swimming, and an accordion of course!

Waiting for the video to begin!

Happy 90th Grandma! We love you!

Davis got a birthday gift too, he loves to fish! Thanks Dede!

Renee and Robert, proud Italians!

This is Davis' new dance move...head bobbing with one leg up.

It's been a while...

I'm back! Did you think I was stranded on a fabulous tropical island? Sadly, I do not have vacation pictures to post and do not have a good reason for taking a blog break. We've just been super busy like the rest of the world. Now it's time to catch you up!

First of all, WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!! After about 50 showings over 100 days and scrambling to keep a clean house, someone made an offer, we accepted, and it's done. Obviously it wasn't that easy, but I can dream. I don't want to recap the horribleness that engulfed us for weeks trying to make the buyer happy. Let's just say, Good-bye Inslee!

After a weekend of hauling boxes and heavy furniture to a storage unit, the house was empty and we decided to have a pizza party with our friends! We toasted to our favorite memories in the house...bringing Davis home from the hospital, late night fires on the back porch, girl's nights watching Bachelor, trick-or-treating, and many more.

Now, I know you're all wondering where we are living and what's next! We bought a house just a couple blocks down from the old house and are remodeling it! In the meantime, we are living with Forrest's parents. I'll post soon with pics of the new house!

Fiesta!

San Antonio celebrates Fiesta every year for an entire week in April. There's river parades, royalty, carnivals, oyster bakes, dog parades, and much more. If you're new to town, you'll know it's time for Fiesta because every home hangs a colorful wreath on their door! This year for Fiesta we...

...went to Alamo Heights night. It's basically a little carnival with games for the kids and tons of food and drink. Davis loved playing the games!

Angry Birds

Bubble Boy!

...went to the Town Club black-tie event. The theme this year was the French Riviera, so we enjoyed Oysters, Crawfish and Gumbo. For fun, I had my palm read, she told me I have TWINS in my future! Other than smelling like New Orleans when we got home, it was a blast!

Yellow School Bus

Alamo Heights has it's very own amusement park, Kiddie Park. It is the oldest children’s amusement park in the country, established in 1925 during the golden age of amusement parks and renovated in 2009. Forrest remembers spending fun afternoons riding the roller coaster and carousel when he was a kid. We went to a birthday party at the park last weekend and we had a blast! I was a little overprotective (we are talking 1925 people!!!) and didn't allow Davis to ride anything that lifted off the ground, but he had a blast riding the boats, the trains, the horse carriages, and the carousel. His favorite ride was the yellow school bus. It looked like a little trolley and just went round and round and round.

When Mary Got Married

Meet Mary and Parker...

They got married January 14, 2012!

Mary was a Chi Omega with me at A&M. Whoop! Gig'em! Hoot Happy! We were also roomies way back in the day. The wedding was in Houston and was as much fun as it was breathtaking. The ceremony was touching as Mary couldn't hold back her tears during their vows and used her groom's pocket to store her tissue. We were greeted by a cheerful Mariachi band at the reception while we grabbed a cocktail and took pictures in the photo booth. As we entered the dinner and dance floor area of the reception, we were surrounded by bright beautiful colors and flowers. We danced the night away and enjoyed late night food - cookies, milk, and grilled cheese sandwiches! What a fun and memorable night! Congrats to Mary and Parker!

Davis Wore a Tux...and Renee & Robert got Married!

Last weekend my cousin married her best friend and we were all there to help celebrate, from beginning to end! Renee and I grew up down the street from each other as kids and all my childhood memories are filled with stories growing up together: going to the same school, gymnastics, Christmas afternoons comparing what Santa brought us, riding bikes, watching old movies and singing songs from Sound of Music, playing on the golf course, trips to Rockport, and the list goes on and on. Now we are adding another person to our family and I'm excited to create new memories with her and her husband, Robert.

We started the weekend off right with a girls brunch at Moonshine. This is one of my favorite places to eat, if you go, the mac and cheese is a must order. I think we all agree, mustard in our new favorite color!

That night, the celebration continued with the rehearsal dinner at Headliners Club, a restaurant on top of a bank building. The view of Austin is beautiful at night! Toasts were made, happy tears were shed, and delicious food was consumed!!

Wedding Day!!!!!
Perfect way to start the day, a little massage!

Beautiful bride about to get her makeup done!

Time for Davis to get ready too! Ring bearer!
Davis and Ruthie rocked the house when they walked down the aisle. Davis gave everyone a wave on his way to the alter. I am just kicking myself I didn't think to video it with my iphone! After all his waving, he got to the alter, saw me, held up one finger and said, "One more!"
After the ceremony, we all rode a shuttle bus back to the hotel for the reception. Davis had a blast on the bus. He was excited not to be in a car seat! This is him telling the bus driver to, "GO!"
Singing Wheels on the Bus..."beep beep!"
I had a sitter all ready to take Davis after the ceremony. It was super late, he was walking down the aisle right around bedtime. But once at the reception, he was AMAZED by the band. He spent most of the night just staring at them. He had a few dance moves in there too!

Renee and Robert's first dance!

Good-bye Mr & Mrs Bain!
