Jay is Here!

I've been on a slight hiatus (little trip to Miami, pics coming soon) so I missed the chance to blog about the arrival of sweet little man, Jay Andrew Squillante. Congratulations to the new parents and surviving the first week with a newborn.

Squeals for Bath Time

When it's bath time I let Davis help me get everything ready and he waits, not so patiently, to get in the tub.

A Seriously Fun Wedding

This past weekend we headed to Austin for Matt and Jaki's wedding and the KA Alumni golf tournament. It was a whirlwind weekend of party after party and golf game after golf game (for Forrest). Somehow we survived, a bit tired, but still in good health. Anyone who knows me well, if I'm worn out, I immediately catch anything that's going around and you can usually count me out for the next week.
We started the weekend with my parents at the lake. Davis was a trooper in his life jacket (it's a bit annoying around his chin) and loved floating in the water. My parents thankfully watched Davis for us Friday night and Forrest and I enjoyed a night out. We went to this DELICIOUS, fairly new, European restaurant called Fabi and Rosi. Absolutely wonderful food, especially the escargot and the duck! You have to go there. It's also reasonably priced. After dinner we met up with all the KA boys, as they placed their bets on the golf tournament for the next day. Then we went and met up with the wedding party, who were all out after the rehearsal dinner.
The next day Davis and I headed to the wedding day lunch on the lake. Here's a pic of me following Davis around as we maneuvered the non-baby-proofed house. I was able to keep him occupied with burgers, milk, and bubbles!

The happy bride and groom! I've never seen a couple so ecstatic about getting married and so ready to party! Just take a look at the pics below...you'll see what I'm talking about! All the groomsmen wore suspenders and goofy socks. The party favors were sunglasses, flip-flops, and headbands...which the bride proudly wore all night! There were back flips and gator moves on the dance floor and a ton of silly string as they left!

A Cougar Birthday!

My birthday was just a couple days after Davis' big day. We celebrated in Austin at the lake with family and friends then went out for dinner. We went to the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, which is a total cougar hang-out and perfect for people watching! It doesn't just happen in the movies (The Graduate), these women are out there on the prowl.
Definition of a cougar: The most commonly-accepted definition of a cougar is a woman 40 years of age or older who exclusively pursues very young men. The onset of the cougar years is hotly debated. Some feel that a cougar can be as young as 35. Typically, cougars prey upon men almost young enough to be their sons.

Thanks for such a special birthday...one more year in my twenties!!!!

Tubes and Other Random Updates

Davis has had a total of 7 ear infections, starting at 4 weeks of age. These usually accompany a fever and some mood changes. They usually don't affect his eating, but he sometimes will tug at his ears and become cranky. We saw the ENT yesterday and I think we are on the road towards tubes, which will hopefully decrease the amount of ear infections over the next year. He's on medicine right now for his ears, so in a couple weeks we are looking at scheduling the tubes.

At Davis' 12 month well visit he weighed 19.5 pounds and measured 28 inches long. Two more inches and we are looking at a new car seat. Any suggestions? I remember buying our travel system car seat and someone at the store suggested we go another route because as soon as the baby reaches 30 inches you will have to buy another one. Their son outgrew his travel car seat within 7 months. They were pretty tall people. We knew, with our height, Davis would at least take a year to outgrow the travel one and, to us, that was a good investment.

Completely random, I love this commercial:
