What comes outta Davis' mouth...

Things have been a little crazy lately, as you probably already guessed by my lack of blog posts, but I have been keeping track of a couple things that make us melt and laugh...

To a new neighbor kid we just met, Davis asked, "You nice or you mean?" Guess it's a good thing to figure out before attempting friendship.

Talking about not getting out of bed till the sun comes up, "The sun and the moon are like a seesaw, one goes up and the other goes down."

At church, I was explaining Father Kevin's homily about looking inside your heart. I asked Davis, "what does your heart look like?" He looked down at his chest and told me quite frankly, "mom, I can't see my heart."

When we left church, the bells were ringing. Davis asked a question and answered it himself. "Who's ringing the bells? I think it's God."

Reading books the other night..."Mom, why do we only read three books at bedtime?" My reply, "because you're three years old." Davis asked, "How old are you mom?" Ummm "31." Davis then said, "Do you get to read four books?"

Davis asked me to tell him a story about bugs the other night. So I came up with a story about ants digging tunnels in their home. They were using shovels in my story, which is when Davis interrupted me, "Mom, ants don't use shovels to dig. They dig with their mouths." Ok ok ok, smartypants! I actually googled "how do ants dig" to find out if he was right...some ants use their mouths, some use their claws.

"This is Cute!"

They say kids say the darndest things, well Bill Cosby always said that. And they do. I try to file away in my memory all those little conversations Davis and I have...I never want to forget...

When 7am rolls around, I hear, "Mom! Mom! Mom!"
From my bed I yell back, "Yes Davis?"
Davis: "The sun is up. It's wake up time!"

Me: "Capeesh?"
Davis: "I want to go to the beach!"

Me: "2 more minutes Davis, then it's time to go home."
Davis: "How about 4 more minutes?" as he holds up 5 fingers.

Anytime we are leaving the house, Davis will say, "I have an idea. I know. How about we take Duke with us!" They are the best of friends.

I recently bought a new pair of neon pink running shoes.
Me: "Davis, do you know what color my shoes are?"
Davis: "Pink!"
Me: "Yes, these are HOT pink."
Davis runs over to feel my shoe. "These are not hot."

And my favorite. Forrest says I have created a monster. When we go shopping, Davis will grab something - anything - and say "This is cute, this is cute for you Mama, this is cute for you Dada." Apparently I say the same thing when I shop. I hadn't noticed.

For Annie

We have a bunch of Annie's in our family due to the fact that we have three Ann Marie's. I call my grandmother Annie and Davis calls my mom Annie. My sweet sister, Ann Marie, isn't a grandparent yet (hmm thank goodness) but I'm sure the day will come when she will also be called Annie. I believe all the Annie's are destined to be just as fun as the one I grew up with!

Annie is from Houston, raised 5 kids, has 13 grandkids, and 4 (one on the way) great grandkids. Age has nothing on Annie. When someone says she's young at heart...that is an understatement...not only is she young at heart but this woman could run a marathon. She's in shape, a social butterfly, babysits, rodeos, plays bridge, loves book-club, and is very involved in the community.

Rodeo By Night

The last week the rodeo was in SA, we got a babysitter (Nana!) and headed to see some cows, bulls, and Miranda Lambert with our friends Brandon and Jordan!

I seriously cannot contain my excitement when those cowboys are buckin' it on a horse or cow. I literally scream each time one flies off and my hand immediately slaps over my jaw, that has dropped to the floor!!!!

Loved seeing Miranda perform! I love all her songs, all her twang, all her pink sparkles, and all her hair flying around! She played all her hits and even a Gaga song! Sadly, no Blake Shelton appearance and no songs from her group, Pistol Annies.

I wore my harmonica necklace so I could jam with Miranda. And I did. I think they appreciated the back-up!

Drumroll Please....The 84th Oscars!

How many mindless hours in front of the TV can I stand? Even DVR can't help me get through the hours of red carpet fashion and the actual award show itself (only to cut off Meryl Streep's thank you's at the end). I used to really enjoy the SAGAs, the Grammys, the Emmys, the Oscars, and the list goes on and on. But recently, these Sunday nights of famous people are getting old.

In Oscar's defense, maybe I wasn't excited to watch because I had only seen ONE of the movies nominated, The Help. We rented Moneyball one night a couple weeks ago, but I fell asleep. This movie-going-behaviour really isn't like me. I love love love the movies, especially the popcorn. But we never go anymore. Such is the sad sad life of parents who don't want to get a sitter and don't want to spend $30 to see a movie.

The highlights for me were Ellen's JCPenny Commercials (I actually stopped DVR to watch those) and the Cirque du Soleil act!

Nutrition Action

I have little time to read. In fact, I can usually only get through a book or magazine if there is a plane ride involved. BUT I'm here today to tell you about a quick read that I get once a month and LOVE.

It's called Nutrition Action.

Why I love it: It's only 15 pages, comes once a month, and is cheap to subscribe to.

What did I learn in the latest issue: 1) Avoid BPA by cutting down on your use of canned goods. 2) Having too much iron in your blood is linked to higher risk of diabetes. 3) Juice is scamming us! Yes, juice beats soda, but the sky is no longer the limit even for nutrient-packed juices. 4) Don't believe labels like "antioxidants, fiber, and DHA." And much much more!

I'm not trying to sell you on something, obviously I'm not reaping any benefits. I just thought I would share an easy read and some nutrition insight. For me, I'm always surprised when I think I'm being healthy and then find out, I'm actually not. It's all about getting the right nutrition education. Enjoy!

Tweet Tweet in 2012

It started back in 2009, my first tweet. Here we are, 2012, and I have a whopping 8 tweets! Seems like the perfect time to make a new year's resolution. I'm going to give it another try. If all goes well, I might get crazy and add Pintrest too!

I really enjoy all these new means of communication...text, blog, facetime, facebook, pintrest, linkedIn, instagram, and the list goes on. BUT (you saw that coming) people...really...do we all have enough time to be so connected? I don't. I don't even have enough time for this blog.

I have a love-hate relationship with technology. Forrest got the new iPhone for Christmas (he had a Blackberry before), which I love because we can now easily send photos and videos back and forth. BUT I'm going to have to get used to Siri, because Forrest was talking to her the other night and from the other room I shouted, "what?" I thought he was asking me to remind him something for work the next day. I guess I should be glad my role as secretary has been replaced.

If you either a) want to read my tweets or b) see how long my new year's resolution lasts then you can find me here @CFrancese!

Don't leave home without one!

It's time to go? Okay, can I take a few of these trains with me?
Let me just see how many I can tuck under my chin...

Day at the Park with Barley

Have you met Barley? He's one of a kind. Sometimes we like to call him "Boss." Him and Duke are the same breed, but aren't related. We can't even joke that they are ken because they absolutely hate each other. Barley is an extreme alpha dog. Barley lives with my parents and is a fabulous dog when he's the only dog and when there aren't any kids around to freak his freak. He loves to paddle board and always has a toy in his mouth. When I was pregnant with Davis, there were talks of possibly giving Barley to another loving home. I am so glad we didn't!!!! He is the most caring dog towards Davis, more so than Duke. They read together, eat snacks together, cuddle together, and slide together...
